There are many reasons to obtain advertisers for your business, online and offline. Obtaining advertisers helps build working capital. Working capital is important to survive and focus on a better business by providing an excellent product.

Obtaining advertisers is not as difficult as most people think. However, it usually depends on your product, if you believe in it, and if there is a niche for the product. If you sell edge protector and cardboard edge protectors, it might be difficult in finding advertisers who will sponsor you. However, you might consider advertisers offering custom packaging solutions and things for safety, or even baby products as potential advertisers.

Finding the advertisers or getting people to agree to pay for advertising can be the most difficult part of all. You will have to give them a sample of your product so they can decide if they are interested. If you are starting a magazine, send a sample magazine with real articles and the content. Show the advertiser a real sample, the customer base you are targeting, and that it would be wise to advertise with you in your magazine or brochure.

Advertisers are usually interested in the amount of circulation going out. If you have a magazine, brochure or something going in the mail, they want to know the numbers. If you have a website you want a business to pay you to advertise on, then they will want to know the amount of traffic clicking on the site. If your numbers go down, then the advertisers may decrease.
Don’t build a business dependent entirely on the advertisers. You must have a product that makes money. The advertising sales must be revenues for you but help you build working capital to get started with your business. Many companies don’t have any capital to get going until the advertisers step in and help with the business. The more advertisers you can get the better. However, keep in mind that if you have a magazine or you are starting a magazine, you can only have roughly 40 ads. If you have too many advertisements, then you don’t have much of a magazine. Be sure your ads are priced right. If you offer too cheap of advertising, then you will be giving it away for free. Smartly price your ads for the advertisers so you make a profit. Printing is expensive and a site takes time to build.

Advertisers are very important and a good sign that a business is thriving. When you obtain advertisers, be sure that you show them the true product. Provide the best ad that you can for them and they will continue to use you and pay you each month for their ad. If you notice that the numbers of advertisers you have are not renewing their contract with you, it may be time to stop the business or start looking for new ads. Never depend on your advertisers entirely. If you find your business relies entirely on advertisers, then it is time to shut the doors.

The old school way of looking at things mandate that you have to pay premium prices to get premium advertising. In other words if you want your ad on during the Super Bowl it will cost you a hefty penny. On the other hand if you want it on during a high school ball game it will be a considerable bit less, even on the same network. That is because of supply and demand. Things work similar in the on line world although there are more options that can get you some decent spots for not a lot of cash outlay. For example if you were starting a business helping people get US Visas by filling in the US Immigrations Forms for people trying to get their US Green Card then this would be an area of advertising that you could target to certain areas for better results.

You always want to do your research so that you are using your advertising dollars where they will do you the most good. You certainly don’t want to try and get business from a retirement home if you are after the US Immigration forms clientele or people looking to obtain their US Green Card or US Visas because this would likely be a waste of your money. These folks would be better targeted with products or services that are of relevance to them and their life styles.

Even though advertising on the Internet can cost you some initial money, the dividends that it pays you back can be quite large if you do your homework and target the demographic that you are after and the places that they might shop or frequent on the web. Teenagers for example are more likely to see ads that they relate to if they are on sites that they would typically visit while they are surfing.

Your typical US Immigrations Forms customer is less likely to be surfing in on sites where they are only viewable in English. So if you are looking to get results you need to target those ads for the US Green Card and US Visas to a web site that would typically handle visits from surfers who might come from countries such as Mexico because those people are more likely looking to find that information and they are less likely to be able to understand English.

The answer in a nut shell is that advertising does cost a little but it will cost a lot less than either not doing it or even worse, doing it wrong. You can either do the research yourself or hire a marketing specialist and let them figure out how you can best approach the advertising game with a limited outlay and a maximized return on your advertising investment. If you actually do this correctly it will pay you to advertise rather than cost you and the bottom line is making your bottom line look great from the influx of customers which equate into dollars.

You have to be very careful when you hire a business do to online advertising for you. You must check out the company and make sure they are legit and know what they are doing. Some of the things you want to consider include their portfolio, complaints against them, promises they are making, and more. If the company is making promises at prices that sound too good to be true then they probably are.

One of the things you need to consider when you are looking at a business for your online advertising is if they have a portfolio. Does the company know what they are doing? Do you like the work you see? Maybe in their portfolio they have completed work for a company that sells artificial Christmas trees and none of the links work. Always click around and verify the site looks good. Maybe the photos of the prelit Christmas trees are too bright and not easy to look at. Is the company selling any lighted palm trees? You want to ask a lot of questions and research the answers online. Look at the company site rank, check them in the search engines, and do your research.

Another consideration if you are going to hire a company to do your marketing is if they have a good reputation. You don’t want to hire a business that is known to never complete the job but always cash the check. Look at the Better Business Bureau for complaints from customers. You can check this online in only a couple of minutes. It could save you a lot of money in mistakes of hiring the wrong person.

One thing to think about before you sign a contract is if the company is making promises that are almost impossible at a great price. Many people question a great price and they won’t go with someone too low. This isn’t good practice all of the time. For example, if you have a person who owns their own small business online and they do the work on their own then they don’t want to rip you off and they don’t have overhead costs of other employees. Larger companies will charge the most money. Promises that should never be made to you include giving you a number one rank on a search engine or telling you what your site rank will be with Alexa. A company cannot promise revenues and they cannot promise ranking. What they can promise is that you will notice a difference in the increase of traffic to your site.

When you hire a consultant to help you with your business marketing efforts online it is important to check out a few things. Always do your due diligence in verifying the company is legit and they do a good job. You don’t want to hire someone who is making promises they cannot deliver, charging too much money, and has a bad portfolio. They could cost you money in the long run by a lack of customers and even problems online.

If you’re a small business, online advertising is a wonderful option for many reasons:

1) It’s very inexpensive. Placing small ads in online magazines, newsletters, or on web sites can cost just a few dollars. Even bidding on keywords for pay per click sites can cost just a little bit of money. Some forms of online advertising — such as pay per click and pay per call — only require that you pay when someone clicks on your ad or calls you. Web sites that can reach millions of customers cost only a few dollars a year. This makes online advertising very cost-effective.

2) It can be free. Many businesses love the fact that there are forms of online promotion that are completely free. Setting up your own business blog can cost you nothing if you lose use a public blog software. Similarly, link exchanges are free, as long as you are willing to promote someone else’s web site on your own. Social networking sites are another great place for you to advertise your business at no cost whatsoever.

3) It can be very effective. While you can only reach so many people with print ads — only the people who pick up a particular magazine have a chance of seeing your ad in that magazine — online advertising is virtually limitless. Millions of people could potentially see your web sites, online ads, or banner ads. There is really no limit as to how many people could find your URL online. Thanks to the fact that web sites are archived, it is possible that customers could continue to see your ad even after a newsletter is no longer online or a website is closed down.

4) It allows customers to click right to your company web site. If you run a print ad, customers who are interested in your product or services need to call you or contact you in some way in order for you to make a sale. However, with online advertising, converting leads into customers is simpler, because you can easily have customers click to your online retail site and buy your products. Whether you’re selling Trapp candles and Tocca candles or designer shoes, you can start making sales quickly online. In many cases, it’s only one click from ad to completed sale.

5) It’s time effective. In fact, you can farm out your entire online marketing campaign to a good web design company. The firm can take care of all the details – from designing a campaign to implementing it. Even if you do not have the budget to hire such a company right now, you can get started today. Setting up a blog takes only a few minutes. Publishing an article on a directory takes only a few seconds. Fifteen minutes a day spent on online advertising, every day, can lead to an impressive marketing campaign in just a few weeks.

Small businesses need to advertise more than large businesses. While everyone has heard of the major sports companies, soft drink companies, and beauty products, small businesses need to work hard in order to educate the public about their products and services. Small businesses just don’t have products and services that are as easily recognizable, and this means that they must launch advertising campaigns in order to promote their brands.

The problem is that many small businesses have limited budgets when it comes to advertising, and this can limit how much advertising can be done – or at least it limits the national TV commercials and big ads in glossy magazines. The good news is that small businesses don’t have to spend a small fortune in order to get their businesses off the ground. There are many ways that businesses can advertise for very little money:

1) Media attention. Get to know reporters, writers, bloggers, newscasters, and other media professionals in your locality. Join online media groups and writers groups, especially those that have areas where writers can request interview subjects. The more often you are placed in articles and on the news, the more buzz will be created around your business. Whether you’re selling Votivo candles, Tocca candles, computers, or stationary, this sort of attention can build your business.

2) Sponsorship signs. If you sponsor a runner at your local marathon, sponsor a booth at the local fair, or sponsor a high school carwash, you will generally be able to advertise your company with the help of a large sign at the events itself. The great news is that local marathons, local fairs, and local car washes all bring in lots of people, so your sign will be seen by everyone. You will not only be doing good, but your business — whether that businesses selling perfumes, laptops, or software — will get some exposure to.

3) Local publications. Many small businesses advertise in their local small newspapers. These are often great places to advertise, because so many people glance through newspapers, local magazines, and other local publications. Be especially sure to look out for small free publications — people will often grab these and flip through them while waiting at a dentist’s office or bank. The ad rates in these small papers can be very attractive, as well.

4) Websites, blogs, and social media sites. It only costs a few dollars a month to have a website. Many blogs are free and allow you to tell customers all about your business. Social media sites such as Facebook and MySpace are also a wonderful way to advertise your business for nothing at all.

5) Talks. Schools, businesses, clubs, and associations all need speakers who can educate and entertain audiences. If you are a florist, for example, you can give a talk at your local garden club about the perfect wedding bouquets or at your local school about the history of flowers. After your talk, you can hand out your business cards or flyers.
